FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are eyelash extensions made of?
Eyelash Extensions are made of synthetic, soft, and lush fibers with a high gloss finish. Typically, false lash extensions are made from silk, mink, or synthetic materials and fibers. Butterfly Lash Solutions carries different types of curls, lengths, thicknesses, colors, and styles - a wide selection of lashes to choose from, the customized combinations to suite your specific look are endless!
Are eyelash extensions safe?
Eyelash Extensions are safe when applied properly and by a certified, trained professional. The application process is painless and so relaxing that most clients fall asleep. Your eyes should be closed, covered and protected during the entire procedure. The eyelash extensions are applied to the natural eyelash, one synthetic lash to one natural lash, and do not touch the skin. However, improper application by an unqualified technician can cause damage to your natural lashes. At Kelly's Eyelash Extensions, we use all the appropriate tools and procedures in the application process to ensure our clients' comfort and safety.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
When applied properly, lash extensions can last indefinitely - as long as you come in for fills every 2 to 4 weeks. This is required as your natural lashes shed, therefore it is necessary to fill in any new growth. When you come in for regular touch ups, you should normally have at least 50% to 75% of our eyelash extensions still attached.
How do I care for eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions need minimal care. Avoid excessive rubbing, waterproof mascaras, oil based cleansers, oil based lotions or make-up removers, as these will loosen the adhesive and shorten the life of your extensions. Use a micro-brush to fully clean the eyeliner around the eye. Take a look at our Lash Care page for thorough instructions.
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa with eyelash extensions?
Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim and exercise. However, do not get lashes wet for the first 24 hours and avoid or steam or sauna for 48 hours after application.
Can I wear mascara?
There is no need for mascara even though mascara can be used on the tips of the extensions. Waterproof mascara is not to be used.
Can I get eyelash extensions if my lashes are tinted or dyed?
Yes, it is safe to get eyelash extensions on tinted or dyed eyelashes. However, it is not recommended to tint, dye or perm lashes after having the eyelash extensions applied.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
You should thoroughly clean your lashes with a mild cleanser. Use an oil-free makeup remover to clean your lashes prior to the application. As the first application service is approximately 2 hours long, you can bring something to do - listen to music, audiobook or podcast - during the procedure. Other than that relax and enjoy!
How do you remove eyelash extensions?
Please do not attempt to remove them yourself as you may damage your natural lashes.
1) Come in and have them professionally removed with a special remover, or
2) Let the eyelash extensions slowly fall out by themselves. This will take about 2 months.
